St. Pius X Church and School supports the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus by strictly enforcing the rules, guidelines, and policies to Protect God’s Children. This includes adherence to the Volunteer’s Code of Conduct and the Code of Pastoral Conduct, as well as requiring Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background checks, FBI fingerprinting, and mandatory attendance of the Protecting God’s Children for Adults© class by all employees and volunteers working with minor children, age 17 or younger. The Protecting God's Children for Adults® program is conducted by trained VIRTUS facilitators and helps adults working with children build awareness for and recognition of child sexual abuse. VIRTUS is a program and service of The National Catholic Risk Retention Group, Inc.
Those volunteers or staff members who will be working in any capacity with children or teens who are age 17 or younger must comply with the following requirements. Once completed, St. Pius X Parish maintains this documentation for all parish and school volunteers.
