It’s been said that singing is twice praying, or praying twice, but either way our goal is to make a joyful noise to the Lord. We are blessed at St. Pius X with many musicians, some professional, most not, but all dedicated to praising God through their music. If you would like to share your musical talent with our parish community take a look at the short biographies of our six musical groups from our drop downs, below. Each offers a unique style of liturgical music, all of it joyful. Being able to read music is a plus, but not a requirement. If you can sing the songs in our missalette, you are a wonderful candidate! If you're not able to make a commitment to a group, we could still use your musical talent on an occasional basis.

St. Pius X Choirs

Adult Choir - Adults 18+

The birth of the St. Pius X Adult Choir coincides with the establishment of the parish in 1958. We sing a wide variety of styles from sacred to contemporary. As we continue to add to our musical repertoire, be part of our fun, hardworking group. We practice from 7:15-9:00 PM on Wednesdays in the church and sing the 8:30 or 10:15 AM Mass on Sundays from September to June. We are proud of our relationship with Messiah Lutheran and we have performed many programs with them. Membership: High school age or older. For information, call John Pottkotter, Coordinator of Music (614) 501-0104 or use our secure contact form from this webpage.

Joy in the Morning

One of our two guitar groups, Joy in the Morning was formed as a high school ensemble in 1972 and now is led by one of the very same founding teens, parishioner Debbie Liffick. The contemporary group serves at 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, year-round, and features an ensemble of guitars and vocals. This group practices at 4:30 PM on Saturday before Mass and other practice times throughout the year, depending on the liturgical calendar.

New Creation Contemporary Ensemble - Adults 18+

New Creation Contemporary Ensemble, St. Pius X

New Creation Contemporary Ensemble consists of skilled musicians and longtime members who have a love for liturgical music and share their talents and gifts that God has given to invite and lead the congregation in sung prayer each Sunday at Mass. We alternate between the 10:15 AM and Noon Masses from September to June. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the Brides Room at the church.

We invite and welcome any adult parishioner and instrumentalists to humbly share their musical ability with us, no matter how great or small, in an enthusiastic, prayerful, and dedicated music ministry so that combined with God's Holy Spirit music can become a powerful experience in worship at St. Pius X.

If you are searching for a way to deepen your faith, vocal and instrumental praise of God is ministry at its finest. Music is the voice of the soul. Come sing with us...the Holy Spirit is calling you!

Please contact John Pottkotter, Music Coordinator at (614) 501-0104 or use our contact form from this page for information on joining New Creation.

Merging Spirits - Grade 7 through Adult

Merging Spirits

Youth choir or Merging Spirits was formed to give young adults a voice in our music ministry at St. Pius X. We sing the 12:00 noon Mass on the second and fourth Sundays of the month and practice on the fourth Sunday after Mass. We have a Monday evening practice once a month as well. We are the only group using percussion and electric guitar, combined with piano. We use music from the Spirit and Song series by Oregon Catholic Press. This group offers flexibility for those who wish to also serve as greeters, servers, eucharistic ministers, and lectors at different Masses. We sing a collection of Christian musician labels such as Chris Tomlin and Michael W. Smith, to name a few.

If you are in the 7th grade or older, please give this group a try. The single practice once a month gives busy students some relief from weekly night practices on school days. We are searching for young people and adults willing to serve the Lord in song and action.

Children's Choir - Grades 1 through 6

Children's Choir is open to all 1-6 graders that are members of St. Pius X Parish. We practice Thursday afternoons from 5:15-5:45 PM beginning in November. Instrumentalists are welcome! We sing at the noon Mass the third Sunday of the month. We also sing a Christmas Mass! Our musical year is November to May.

Resurrection Choir - Funeral Choir

This is a new choir formed to sing at funeral liturgies. If you are flexible during the day and can gather on short notice, we would love to have you. A great choir for retirees.
