Volunteers Needed

INTERESTED IN PUTTING YOUR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO WORK? St. Pius X is looking for individuals with background/experience in building, mechanical, electrical, structural, or
engineering expertise to form a Committee for Building Maintenance & Repair and other facility needs. The purpose is to develop a short and long-term vision for the Church and School facilities. If you are interested in this endeavor, please contact the Parish Administrator,
Deacon Charlie Miller at 614-866-2859, ext. 4.

Volunteers Needed for Snow Removal

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS/OTHERS…We are looking for young people who may need to complete community hours, sacramental hours, similar volunteer work, or just looking for an opportunity to volunteer to assist St. Pius X parish with snow removal. We need the help on the weekends to clear sidewalks for Mass (5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday mornings) and entrances to the rectory and school. We would also welcome assistance on days when school is cancelled and you may be looking for something to do. If you are interested in volunteering, have your parent’s approval (depending on your age of course) and a means of transportation to get here, please call Deacon Charlie Miller at 614-866-2859, x101. We will contact you when needed, but we need your commitment to be part of the volunteer group through the winter. We ask you to be on site at least 45 minutes before the start of Mass. Depending on how many volunteers are interested, we may set up a team rotation. Bring your shovels. Thanks for your consideration.

Landscaping/Outdoor Yard Care Ministry

INTERESTED IN PUTTING YOUR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO WORK? Did you ever wonder who makes the gardens and grounds of St. Pius look so beautiful? Now you can be part of this "Groundskeeping Ministry" and put you gardening talents to good use. We are in need of volunteers. Anyone interested may contact Pam Gruenwald at 614.864.6412 or send an email to: pamgruen@aol.com.

Parish Ministry
Volunteer Form

There are many opportunities for you to become an active member of St. Pius X within the service groups and religious programs of the parish. For a breif description of the groups and programs go to the Service Groups page of this website. To get involved with a certain group you may use the Volunteer Form, after printing and filling out the form either mail it to the parish office or drop it in the collection basket at church.

SPX Prayer Line

A PRAYER LINE WILL BE FORMING IN THE PARISH to provide parishioners two distinct opportunities: First, to actively participate in praying for the specific needs of our parish family and secondly, to give parishioners a means by which their prayer request can reach members of the parish community. Right now we are only interested in hearing from any person willing to become a part of the prayer line to pray for another’s needs. Please contract Leah Kelly at 614-866-2859 with your interest in this ministry. I will want to know your name, phone number and e-mail address (if applicable) to begin this ministry. Continue to watch the bulletin for additional information regarding this new program. We all know how the power of prayer can affect our lives. Hopefully, the initiation of this prayer line will positively affect our parish community and bring us closer to becoming One Body in Christ.

Volunteer Opportunities

Visit nursing home or assisted living residents, especially those who have no regular visitors or may not have family living nearby. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is looking for volunteers to visit residents in nursing homes and act as advocates for their care. Volunteers are provided with a 12-hour initial training program and can be assigned to a nursing home near the volunteers’ home or work. If you are at least 18 and able to commit about 2 hours a week to visit, please contact Ruthie Fortkamp at 614-857-1230 or 800-536-5891 or fax 228-1125 or rfortkamp@colscss.org for more information.

SPX School
Volunteers Needed

PLEASE HELP US KEEP ST PIUS X SCHOOL A SAFE PLACE…Front desk volunteers are desperately needed at school every day that school is open. You will be asked to greet visitors, instruct them to sign in when they arrive, and direct them to their destination. Please help our children in this way by signing up at the front desk at school on the calendars provided there. There are two shifts: 8-11:30 a.m. and 11:30-2:30 p.m. In order to be eligible to help, you will need to have fingerprinting done, the cost of which will be reimbursed to senior citizens, and Protecting God’s Children. You can check for sessions of this Diocesan program and register online at the website: www.colsdioc.org. If you have any questions, please call the school office or Barbara Bolger at 861-0982.
